Biostar MB-1500PCT-A Rev.2 (OPTi Python) Socket 5 VIP Motherboard

    Hello everyone,

I would also like to add something at this point. OPTi is especially known for its poor PCI performance because it chose a different path than other chipset manufacturers. The Python chipset basically consists of the ICs 82C546 and 547. These two form the VLB basis. Now OPTi did not bother to design a new chipset, but happily tinkered with bridges. This is how the peculiar 82C822 came about, which is actually a VLB-to-PCI bridge. The performance problems arise from this „chain“ and the adjustment of the bus width CPU / VLB (64 / 32Bit). That was taken over with the OPTi Viper. Only the Viper + was a pure PCI chipset.

    Hi!

I’m sorry to bombard you with messages, but I wasn’t sure if you’re reading your Vogons inbox or the admin mail for this website.

Could you please dump the contents of your BIOS chip for this motherboard? I’m trying to restore mine, this would really help.

Uff! Das ist mal ein interessantes Board! Einzig das Tönnchen macht mir etwas Sorge.. :/

It’s a pity that you request help and I do everything to help you and you are not able to give my a little „thank you“ or something afterwards. It is sad to see that some people just take, take and take.
